Top of Utah Marathon!

Still waiting on pictures!. . .
I've started this entry several times, but could never get far enough to post it. I did the 5k - jogged the whole thing. Not too bad, considering I'm not a regular runner. I finished 3.5 min behind my baby sister (regular runner- Way to go Emily!) I felt pretty pleased with myself. Then we started to see the marathon runners com in. . .
My first thought- these people are crazy! Then I realized what they had to do to get to where they are- not only their place in the race, but mental and physical preparation. These people are amazing! And to see the look on each face as they rounded that last corner, for most, it was a spiritual moment to have overcome their limitations (humans weren't meant to run that far!)
I watched as Aaron (little brother) finished his 3rd marathon. I want him to know I have a huge amount of respect for him. HE'S an amazingly strong person. And when he got done, all he wanted was the welcoming arms of his sweet wife.
Emily ran the 1/2 marathon a few weeks prior. And Dani (sister-in-law) ran an Xtream 1/2 marathon in Ohio. Much respect to both of them! These are all things I'll never do. (I don't even like to drive that far!)
So now I look at my measly 5k with different eyes. Still proud of my own accomplishments, but humbled by the guts of these people who I love and admire. I'm looking forward to next summer when my family will shoot to do a 5k every month. What a great way to spend time together!
Thanks to all my mentors- I'll always admire you from the side lines! :)

Wasn't that a fun weekend? You definitely don't give yourself enough credit for running the 5k as fast as you did. You did an amazing job! Way to go Bethany!
