If you're going through hell, keep going. -Winston Churchill

I Love this quote! What wise words to live by.
Adam is currently working 2 jobs. One is a graveyard shift. Although we're grateful to HAVE the job, it has not been fun. I worked graveyard for 9 years, but I was in my 20's. It's a lot harder in your 30's. We also haven't seen each other much. That's the worst part. He works from 10pm to 6am Sunday-Thursday nights. He sleeps for 5 hours (if he's lucky) and goes to job #2 for about 4 hours. He tries to NOT work on Fridays. I don't normally work Fridays, so when all goes as planned, we have the day together. For some reason, this doesn't work out nearly often enough.
When I'm in Adam's arms, everything is right in the world. When see the beautiful young women my baby girls have become, I remember why we do this. I just miss him.
I've been running a lot to get ready for my marathon. I LOVE to run. It's the only other place I find peace. However, training for a marathon takes so much time. My long run days have been 3 to 5 hours. That's a long time to be away when my family is home. I hope to run for the rest of my life. It will just be nice to Run-4-Fun again. I want to do a few 1/2 marathons next year. They are a lot easier to train for.
MARATHON COUNT DOWN: 6 Days!
I feel ready! But now I'm having Marathon nightmares. Last night I dreamed I was 5 or 6 miles into it, and I stopped to stretch, and fell asleep. I have 6 hours to finish the marathon, the gives me until 1pm. In the dream, I woke up at 4:30pm. I was devastated! I've worked so long and hard for this. All I want to do is FINISH! Have any of my fellow runners experienced MARATHON NIGHTMARES?

Who reads this crap anyway?!?

Okay! I'm not sure anyone really reads any of this any more, but it's a good way to vent!
We've had a rough couple of weeks. Adam got laid off last week and we won't get anything from unemployment for 3 weeks. At first we were both scared. I called Emily (my sister) the other day, and kind of freaked out. (Sorry Emily!) But we have both come to terms with it and we've realized that we WILL be okay. We've been together for 16 years, and things have always somehow worked out. On a more positive note, I LOVE having him around. We've worked opposite shifts since we got married, and at least now I get to spend some time with him. He's been keeping busy with eBay and doing some running around that I'd put off. He's always taken such good care of our family. I couldn't ask for a better husband and father for my teenage (ouch) girls. We will adjust, as everyone does, and move on. It's not ideal, but until his work picks up again, we'll manage. I still have my job, along with our insurance, so there is some stability. We're grateful for the little things, and that we have each other.
I'm still running and still loving it! Emily and I are headed to Ogden in a couple weeks. I'm running the half marathon, then I'll get to be there when Emily finishes her first MARATHON! Thanks to my sweet sister, we made our plans 6 months ago and paid for our hotel. So now, we just show up!
I hope you all are doing well. Keep your loved ones close. That's really all that matters anyway! :)

The Long Runs Continue...

So I've been running for a few months now with 6 weeks of long run Fridays. I started with 10 miles and had a 16 mile run last Friday! Adam and I are taking a few days off this week to spend some time together, so my Long Run will be 10 miles on Wednesday, followed by working a 10 hour shift... May regret that one! I'm still loving it and looking forward to races all summer ranging from 5k's to a FULL Marathon in September. This is a disease... and I believe it is still spreading- (Bubba)! Highly recommended! :)
Note to those who are infected: Invest in some good shoes and a large box of band-aids The fabric kind. I've got a few blisters that may never heal! But fabric bandaids keep my on my feet!
